Vadodara recently lost one of its famous artists in the form of Shri Nagjibhai Patel. His contributions over a lifetime of sculpting were in no small measure responsible for Baroda’s identity as the cultural capital of Gujarat. The Welcare Team had the opportunity to know him personally when he opted to get his knees replaced by Dr Mody at Welcare Hospital. Whilst fondly remembering the ever optimistic and positive minded Nagjibhai, Dr Mody says “Nagjibhai used to joke with me that he and I shared the same profession… both of us were sculptors giving new shape to hard material and bringing joys to people’s lives!” The Welcare Team pays their heartfelt tribute to this worthy son of Vadodara and shares the sense of loss that our city feels at the passing away of Nagjibhai Patel.
